This story takes place 3 years after Mr. Black, the first book in this trilogy. Talia is an author. She meets Seb but does not recognize him-he has some significant physical changes. She has a stalker fan and is involved with a serial killer investigation. Eventually she figures out that her "pilot" is Seb. But she also realizes that he is not interested in a lasting relationship. To protect her heart, she refuses to give herself completely to him. Seb also isn't ready to give up on Talia. This story has so many elements but we learn more about what has happened in Talia's and Seb's lives that affect how they see themselves and their relationship.Ends with another cliffhanger but was warned about this in Amazon blurb about the book:

After leaving us standing in an open doorway staring at a white box we find ourselves thrust back into Talia's life, three years later.
Three years! At first I wanted to rail against the injustice of it all. How is it possible that Red and Black went three years with no contact? How could Talia have fooled herself into thinking any other man would do? How could Sebastian not thrown everything aside to come find the woman who gave him a rainbow? Three years have gone by, how will Talia and Sebastian ever reconnect?

Those are the questions that ran through my head as soon as I realized the time jump from Mr. Black and Scarlett Red, I needed answers and they can be found in the book, but I can't give you any of them because they are all tied up so neatly into the plot that any hint will give away the story and you don't want me to do that.
Talia is as strong as ever. She's spent the last several years fighting her way through life and her memories. She's graduated from college, gone to work at a newspaper, gotten engaged, let go/quit from the newspaper, started a successful writing carrier, and been cheated on by her now ex-fiance (whom I loathe by the way) Nathan. Talia is as she's always been though, a fighter.

The second installment of this trilogy was a fabulous roller coaster ride of suspense that gives a total body grab. But this was me...you might need something darker to tickle your interest. For me, this plot combined with interesting characters engulfed my attention. It’s three years later from book #1, and Talia is just as strong, self sufficient and determined as ever. She’s certainly no dummy. Secrets, mystery, and lots of drama that shoots outta the starting gate from the first chapter, successfully drawing the reader in. Romance titillates and the flirting delights but doesn’t overwhelm the plot. Character details stay strong...adult language is kept at a minimum. Told in first person, dual POV mostly from Talia. If you like suspenseful mystery with a romantic subplot...with strong women and naughty, handsomely arrogant men, then you’ll probably enjoy this story. It never drags or loses momentum.
this book is full of not quite- not quite a mystery, not quite a romance, not quite bdsm, not quite good...it just misses the mark on so many different levels. i loved the first book, Mr. Black, and actually was watching and waiting for this book to come out. but the further along i got, the more disappointed i became. the ridiculous plot begins early, and just keeps getting worse and worse. the chemistry that was in the first book was completely absent in the second, and the story borders on ridiculous and just becomes more and more unbelievable. some of the scenes didn't even feel as if they fit, and the ex-fiance showing up just seems to drop from nowhere, only to disappear just as quickly. i'm not sure why there are so many rave reviews about it, because this book had me rolling my eyes more often than not and left me feeling disappointed in what could have been a great story, like a love affair that starts out scorching then fizzles cold quickly. i won't be watching for the third.
I was unsure reading the first book in this series Mister Black but the more I read, the more I enjoyed it and by the end I was chomping at the bit for book two.
Sadly this book was a huge let down to me. So much so that I am struggling to finish it at the three quarter mark.
This book has basically become about Nothing more than dirty sex. Sebastian dominates her every encounter they have and I struggle to see any tenderness between them. I don't mind a bit of the dirty in my books but this focuses way too much on that and not enough on the actual characters. They don't know each other at all and hardly any of their background is shared thoughout the book leaving me to feel like I don't know the characters at all. There is not much dialogue that is very in depth as most of it is just Sebastian telling T how much he will please her, she will beg for it etc. Etc. The sub plot about the ticket buyer is barely there and hugely lacking.
Basically I am expecting the remainder of the book to be Sebastian tying her hands and going down on her. Sigh.
And won't they just address the past already?? Am I mistaken in believing she gave him the watch back and he is wearing it.. yet he never brings it up.. so book just skims the surface.
It was going to be one star but I was feeling generous in my tired groggy state. If you like a book with no depth and no chemistry between H and h then this book is for you.
